Kevin C. Coates is a U.S. transportation & energy policy consultant and the CEO of the North American Maglev Transport Institute.
Mr. Coates is a former spokesperson for Transrapid International-USA, Inc. and served as their communications consultant for several years.
Since his association with Transrapid, Mr. Coates has written extensively about why maglev transportation matters, the escalating energy crisis, and the urgent need for upgrading America's electric power grid without compromising its reliability or cost effectiveness. His published pieces have appeared in the U.S. and international media, including two in-depth engineering articles on the Shanghai maglev project.
Prior to his work with TRI, Mr. Coates was an executive in the electric power industry where he was engaged in public affairs and business development activities.
