Jerry Schneider holds a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in Regional Science.

He served on the faculty at the University of Washington for 30 years as jointly appointed in two departments: Urban Planning and Civil Engineering.
